Meet Katie
OWNER, EDITOR, PHOTOGRAPHER
When I opened this studio, I had a vision for maternity and boudoir photography that was timeless yet modern, simple yet artistic. I personally edit every image in our signature La Rousse Photo editorial style. While I have a deep love for black-and-white images, I also appreciate the beauty and vibrance of color photos. Our studio space has a neutral color palette with gorgeous natural light and includes a carefully curated wardrobe collection.
When I’m not working, I’m likely planning my next solo adventure. I’ve traveled to 20 countries, and one of my favorite experiences was driving over 11,000 miles across the U.S. and back. I could live off Americanos and almond butter, and I’m *never not hungry* so don’t be surprised if I offer to share my snacks. Fun fact: La Rousse means "the redhead" In French—though I’m not a natural redhead!

I’m originally from Mexico and now based in LA. My work is infused with a rich blend of cultural experiences. Fluent in Spanish and Italian, I have lived in Italy and NYC for several years, enhancing my global perspective. My multicultural upbringing deeply influences my work, allowing me to bring unique insights to every photo session.
As a former Photo Editor of Playboy US, I have honed my eye for visual storytelling and creative production. I believe the most compelling stories are those that are real and unfiltered. My aim is to capture genuine, raw, and authentic moments.

MATERNITY & FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER
Born in Minneapolis and raised all over, I took my first photograph on a Kodak disposable camera at five years old and I've had a camera in my hand ever since. Since then, my work has evolved from a point-and-shoot pictures to portraiture and commercial lifestyle photography.
From behind the lens, I love capturing intimate moments – and emotion both big and small.
I currently live in Los Angeles with my husband, our new baby, and puggle Zena. In my spare time, I love to travel, take care of my plant babies and host dinner parties.

Hey, I'm Joy!
HAIR & MAKEUP ARTIST
My passion for makeup artistry began when I was 14: I was the girl who went everywhere in full glam, the friend that everyone always asked for help with their makeup. In high school, it got to a point where I was doing all my friends makeup for prom & my mom said, “You know people get paid to do this?”
I immediately knew this is what I wanted to do with my life. I decided I was done with high school, graduated early to study for my cosmetology license, passed the state board at 17 & the rest is history.
I’ve been doing this for over 10 years and each day I fall more and more in love with my craft. What a privilege I have to wake up everyday and do what I love. Along the way I have met so many amazing people, my beautiful clients. I find inspiration in everyone.

Located in the Elysian Park neighborhood, La Rousse Photo's private studio is a thoughtfully curated and comfortable space for your photo session. Enjoy complimentary coffee, tea, or sparkling water as you get a professional hair & makeup makeover on the day of your shoot. We utilize a variety of simple sets and backgrounds with both natural light and studio lighting.
